Thrifty of Tennessee becomes Maximus Building Supply

Collierville, Tenn. — Thrifty Building Supply, established in Collierville nearly 40 years ago by Farrell Evans to meet demand for building products for simple structures like sheds and barns, is getting a new name.

Since its inception, the company has grown and evolved from a small building materials company to one of the Mid-South’s leading building materials suppliers. Richard Cooper, who took over as owner and chairman in January of this year, felt that the name, Thrifty, did not fully align with their product offerings and position in the industry and felt that it it was time to switch brands.

“We supply building materials to most of the quality home builders in the area. We carry well-known brands such as Marvin Windows and Windsor Windows and Doors, and supply custom doors through our Door Shop. Our commitment to our customers goes beyond the supply of materials. We partner with them to ensure the smooth running of their projects. No other supplier goes as far as we do in every phase of the construction process. Contractors know that we have gone and will continue to go far for them, so they have achieved their project goals on time and on budget. That’s the kind of service we provide, and that’s what we exist for,” Cooper said.

The company has embarked on a rebranding exploration in collaboration with Susan Ewing, owner and chief navigator at Ewing Marketing Partners.

“Richard knew that if he wanted to grow and be true to what the company stands for and how it wants to be perceived, it was time for a change. A change that will project the brand into the future, embodying strength and the loyalty she has shown for nearly four decades,” Ewing said.

The company renamed itself Maximus construction supply. Maximus is the Latin word for “greatest”.

“Maximus is a good fit for our business because we believe we have the best team together – a team that provides the best service to our customers. And we’re not just talking about our sales team or our management team, we’re talking about everyone – our drivers, yard guys, warehouse workers, administrators and coordinators. Our team is the best because we all have one thing in mind, to meet all the needs of our customers. Not only do we have the best team, but we also know we have the best customers,” Cooper said.

The Maximus Building Supply logo mark is a Cane Corso dog. The Cane Corso is a hard-working, powerful, and intelligent breed that exhibits strength and loyalty. Like the name Maximus, the Cane Corso is there to serve because he loves having a job to do. Cooper said these qualities matched the character and culture of the company.

“While we may have a new name and logo to better represent the business in the future, the foundations of building relationships and creating value for our customers will always remain,” Cooper said.
