Is your breed of dog considered “the wisest” or “the meanest”?
I have had dogs in my lifetime and I miss some a lot and some less. Does this sound mean to you? I didn’t hate dogs, some of them were, let’s say, picky.
A group called “Protect My Paws” decided to have a little fun and try to figure out which dog breeds behave the “meanest” and which behave the best. ”Admit it wasn’t. very scientific since they came to their conclusions by looking at the Instagram comments. It’s fun to see if they are correct to some extent. I’ve always had pooches that we rescued from shelters so I can’t really not compare our dogs to this survey.
They cite a study published in the Royal Society Science that showed how DNA can shape about 15% of a dog breed’s personality. I think people who own or have owned purebred dogs would agree with this. In fact, I thought that number would have been much higher.
In their own words, this is what they said to be their methodology:
“To create these tables, we put together a list of good and bad dog hashtags (#gooddog, #cleverdog, #cleverpuppy, #baddog, #naughtypuppy, #cheekydog, #muddydog). Next, we put together a comprehensive list of dog breeds and analyzed Instagram posts featuring a dog breed and one of those hashtags. (87,886 posts in total.) We then calculated the proportion of good and bad hashtags for each breed to identify the best naughty and well-behaved breeds. 43,367 geolocated posts were analyzed in order to create the maps. The data was collected in June 2021 “
According to their unscientific but fun study, the best-bred dog breed on Instagram was:
- The Korean Jindo dog. This breed obtained 75.86% positive behavior tags
- The meanest dog breed is the Japanese Spitz. This breed scored 86.67% negative behavior labels
Where does your dog land in their unscientific study, check out their results and have fun with it.
Here are some other fun facts they shared:
- South African country believes it is home to the meanest dogs
- Ukraine country believes it is home to the best-behaved dogs
And with regard to the cities
- Moscow, Russia thinks they have the best behaved dogs
- Canberra, Australia thinks its city has the nastiest dogs
