Current September Seasons | Indiana County Sports

September hunting seasons are underway, and dove and goose hunters are both taking advantage of the free time over Labor Day weekend.

Both species are strongly tied to agricultural crops and water sources, allowing a hunter to find a pattern in their flight or hunt one of the attractions. I chased doves over a small irrigation pond and did well with easy shots as the birds drifted towards the lone dead snag. With all the rain we’ve just had, chasing such water holes won’t help with the puddles scattered across the fields. Agricultural activities can quickly change food sources and locating where birds are feeding can sometimes be difficult or impossible.
