Berks ARL and Humane PA Offer FREE Adoptions at “Clear The Shelters” Event
The Animal Rescue League of Berks County and Humane Pennsylvania will be offering free adoptions this Saturday, September 18, 2021, as part of the Clear the Shelter campaign sponsored by NBC10 / WCAU and Telemundo62 / WWSI.
“NBC10 and Telemundo62 are proud to welcome the Empty shelters campaign for the seventh year in a row and partner with more than 35 local shelters and rescues, ”said Ric Harris, President and CEO of NBC10 and Telemundo62. “Our grassroots pet adoption initiative has helped find new homes for over 25,000 pets in the Greater Philadelphia area.”
ARL adopters are encouraged to arrive early as adoption wait times are expected. All available adoptables will be listed on www.berksarl.org. The site is updated every 12 minutes to reflect the most up-to-date “inventory” of people available to adopt. Go through it before your visit and select a few animals that you may want to meet. All animals are spayed / neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
Adoptions will be done on demand and with the guidance of an adoption counselor to help adopters and their families find the perfect pet. If you are adopting a dog and currently have other dogs in the house, we encourage meetings and greetings to make sure the dogs get along well.
Under PA law, a dog permit fee of $ 7 applies at the time of adoption. These costs are not covered by the sponsored adoption. For more information, interested adopters can write to [email protected].
The Humane League of Lancaster County and the Freedom Center for Animal Life-Saving will waive fees for ALL cats, critters and dogs, in the hope that all animals in our shelters can find their forever home. Anyone interested in adopting an animal from Humane Pennsylvania should complete an Adoption Interest Form and view all currently available adoptables at https://humanepa.org/adoption/.
